Posted in the topic Pressler and Pressler threatening a lawsuit - is this real or a scare tactic? in the forum Off-Topic Discussions
    February 24, 2026 8:27 AM PST

I'm kind of freaking out and hoping someone here has experience with this. I've been getting calls from Pressler and Pressler for a while, but now the messages have changed. They're saying they're a law firm and that if I don't settle immediately, they're going to recommend moving forward with litigation. One voicemail even mentioned wage garnishment.

The problem is, I'm not even 100% sure this debt is mine, or at least not for the amount they're claiming. I asked them to send me something in writing to prove it, but they just kept pushing me to pay over the phone. I never got any official letter in the mail with my rights or a breakdown of the debt.

I started researching and found this page which explains that as a law firm, they can sue, but they also have to follow strict rules: https://protectionforconsumers.com/pressler-and-pressler-debt-collection-harassment/

It says threatening legal action without proper documentation or authority, and not sending a written validation notice, could be violations of the FDCPA. Has anyone actually been sued by them? Or did they just use this as a scare tactic to get you to pay? I'm trying to figure out my next move and if I should even be this worried. Any insights would really help calm my nerves.
